The materials for each residence would be chosen with the family.
Natural materials are never the same twice. Two slabs from one block of marble will differ; a teak log will show its own grain. Rather than specifying from catalogues alone, our approach is to review the actual pieces with you before selection.
Stone
For a commission, we would choose travertine, limestone, marble, onyx or terrazzo slab by slab; plan book-matching and vein direction before cutting; choose honed or textured finishes where rain and water make polish unsafe; and plan sealing and care for each stone.
Timber
We would assess teak, walnut and oak for joinery, floors and screens by grain, stability in our humidity and responsible origin. Large joinery would be inspected in the workshop, then acclimatised on site before fixing.
Metal, lime and cloth
We would consider solid bronze for handles, trims and lamps, patinated to age well; lime plasters for a tropical climate; and linens, wools and silks in the light of the rooms they would dress.
