Every surface in a Mahligai residence is chosen with the family, by hand.
Natural materials are never the same twice. Two slabs from one block of marble will differ; a teak log will show its own grain. So we do not specify from catalogues. We select — with you — the actual pieces that will become your home.
Stone
Travertine, limestone, marble, onyx and terrazzo, chosen slab by slab. We plan book-matching and vein direction before a single cut, choose honed or textured finishes where rain and water make polish unsafe, and seal and care for each according to its nature.
Timber
Teak, walnut and oak for joinery, floors and screens — selected for grain, stability in our humidity, and responsible origin. Large joinery is inspected in the workshop before it leaves, and every piece is acclimatised on site before it is fixed.
Metal, lime and cloth
Solid bronze for handles, trims and lamps, patinated to age well. Lime plasters that breathe in a tropical climate. Linens, wools and silks chosen in the light of the rooms they will dress.
